SkillsUSA Rhode Island Students Receive President's Volunteer Service Award |
|
The following students received the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in June: Gold Level (250 hours or more) Kaitlin Tenerella, Cranston; Gianna Velino, Cranston. Bronze Level (100 – 174) Leah Belogolovsky, Cranston; Mary Beth Dawson, Cranston; Eva Kis, Cranston; Dana Marcotte, Cranston. Service usually springs from selflessness, but the President of the United States wants to recognize volunteers just the same. That’s why the Presidential Volunteer Service Award was created, a national honor offered in recognition of sustained service. Lowe's Home Improvement Stores has awarded a $1,000 travel scholarship to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference for those who attain a President's Volunteer Service Award. SkillsUSA is an official certifying organization of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. To be eligible student must have completed criteria that can be found here: http://skillsusa.org/students/volsvc.shtml. SkillsUSA Rhode Island is proud of these six students for their dedication to service in their communities. Congratulations to all of the recipients!
